Santosh Choubey is a renowned writer and is known for promoting science and technology and for his distinctive writing on science and technology topics in Hindi. He was also a close associate of the eminent science writer Shri Gunakar Mule.
Santosh Choubey was the first to start writing on computers and information technology in Hindi. His first book, “Computer – Ek Parichay”, was published by Madhya Pradesh Hindi Granth Academy in the year 1986, and it set sales records in all Hindi-speaking regions of the country. Over the past 35 years, he has written, translated, and edited more than 50 books in Hindi on information technology, computers, science, and electronics, which are read by a large number of students in all Hindi-speaking states. The sale of his science books published by Madhya Pradesh Hindi Granth Academy has reached into the millions of copies. His first book “Computer Ek Parichay” has been published in 40 editions. He has also made significant contributions in the creation of diploma and degree courses and related textbooks based on information technology. He has also written and edited a series of more than 50 popular science books in Hindi
For the past 35 years, he has been continuously editing the country’s only Hindi magazine on electronics, “Electroniki Aapke Liye”, in which more than 100 of his own articles have been published.
He has been editing and publishing this magazine continuously for the last 33 years. It is the first magazine in the country in Hindi on electronics and information technology making it the most prestigious science magazine in Hindi today.
With the advent of audio-video technology, he also wrote for radio and produced a 52-episode series Vigyan Yatra focused on latest science topics for radio broadcast.
In addition to science writing, he has been consistently engaged in popularizing science and technology. For this, he has organized IT yatras (journeys) across the country. For the past 30 years, he has been writing for these yatras, organizing poster exhibitions, creating science plays, and organizing Pustak Yatra (book journeys).
In all universities of AISECT Group, he established the C.V. Raman Centre for Science Communication, which works specifically on science education adopting Hindi and traditional Indian knowledge systems.
His work in popularising Science, which began in 1985–86, has continued for the past 40 years, and he has been continuously enriching the collection of scientific and technical writing and popularising Science in Hindi since then.
