Poet, storyteller, novelist Santosh Choubey is among those rare litterateurs of Hindi literature who are equally active in both fields of literature and science. He is a nationally renowned writer who for the past forty years has been actively contributing in almost all forms of Hindi literature within the country and abroad. His six story collections, four novels, and four poetry collections have been published and appreciated. His stories have been staged at Bharat Bhavan and the National School of Drama, New Delhi, and he has been continuously published by nearly all major publications of the country.
The essays of Terry Eagleton, Fredric Jameson, Walter Benjamin, Odysseus Elytis, and E.F. Schumacher have been translated into Hindi by him, which have been widely read and appreciated. His three critical books Kala Ki Sangat (In the Company of Art), Apne Samay Mein (In One’s Time), and Parampara Aur Aadhunikta (Tradition and Modernity) have been published and honored. He has also edited two books of intellectual prose Aakhyan Ka Antarik Sankat (The Inner Crisis of Narrative) and Kahani: Swapna Aur Yatharth (Story: Dream and Reality).

हमारा पूरा जीवन शब्द-युग्मों के बीच में, या उनके द्वन्द्र के बीच निकल जाता है। इन शब्द युग्मों के के अंतर्विरोध को साधने के लिये हमें एक मानवीय, उच्चतर हस्तक्षेपकी आवश्यकता होती है जो कला और संस्कृति हमें प्रदान करते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए फ्रेंच क्रांति के शब्द-युग्म को लें, जहाँ पर 'स्वतंत्रता' और 'समानता' दो पहले शब्द हैं। इनमें परस्पर विरोध ये है कि अगर हम पूरी तरह स्वतंत्र होंगे तो शायद समानता हासिल नहीं कर पायेंगे और अगर समानता को बाध्यताकारी बनायेंगे तो स्वतंत्रता का हास होगा। इस अन्तर्विरोध को सुलझाने के लिये एक बड़े ब्रिलिएण्ट शब्द का प्रयोग किया गया है, वो है भाईचारा । लिबर्टी, इक्वैलिटी एवं फ्रैटर्निटी ये तीन शब्द हैं। इनमें से पहले दो अन्तर्विरोधी हैं, तीसरा शब्द संतुलन बनाता है। वो उच्चतर हस्तक्षेप है, जहाँ से पहले दो शब्दों के अंतर्विरोध को आप सन्तुलित कर सकते हैं।
He has edited Vanmali Sangrah in two volumes, centered on the eminent storyteller of Madhya Pradesh, Vanmali (Shri Jagannath Prasad Choubey). The anthology Katha Madhya Pradesh, edited by him, which includes stories from more than two hundred writers of Madhya Pradesh, received nationwide recognition. In this sequence, he edited Kathadesh—an eighteen-volume story collection, which includes works from over six hundred writers across the country. He has also edited a collection based on 200 writers of Bhopal (in four volumes Katha Bhopal), a collection of 200 science stories (in six volumes Vigyan Katha Kosh), and a collection of 200 science poems (in three volumes Vigyan Kavita Kosh).
Currently, he is contributing as a member of the editorial board of Samavartan, and as the chief editor of Rang Samvad, an interdisciplinary magazine on Indian art and culture, and the global dialogue magazine Vishwarang Samvad. He is the patron of the inclusive democratic values magazine Vanmali Katha.
Along with writing, Santosh Choubey has been consistently working for the past thirty years to popularize Hindi literature. Among his notable achievements are the establishment of the Vanmali Katha Puraskar (Vanmali Story Award) for Hindi literature, the establishment of Vanmali Srijan Peeth in more than 177 towns and cities across the country, and organizing at the global level the Vishwarang - International Literature and Art Festival, which has gained international recognition. With the advent of audio-video technology, he has presented Hindi poetry on a large scale in theatrical form as Kavitayatra (Poetry Journey).
To promote Hindi and other Indian languages and to provide Indian art and culture a global platform, Mr. Santosh Choubey initiated Vishwarang - International Literature and Art Festival in the year 2019. It was established to provide a dynamic platform for Indian art and culture where artists from diverse backgrounds can come together to showcase their unique talent, art, and perspectives.
Through this event, Mr. Choubey created opportunities for exchange and dialogue among artists, breaking barriers and promoting a sense of unity among art communities. Highlighting our differences and our shared humanistic cultural heritage, Vishwarang has played a vital role in promoting collaboration, creativity, and mutual respect.
