He was a founding member of Delhi Science Forum, a platform for intellectuals to explore alternative paths for development after the emergency. He worked on science policy issues under the chairmanship of Shri P.N. Haksar. He also founded Madhya Pradesh Vigyan Sabha, a people’s science movement that aimed to popularize science, promote appropriate technology for artisans, and innovate in education. He was involved in documenting and providing relief and rehabilitation to the victims of Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
Santosh was the founder secretary of M.P. Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, which led the literacy movement in the state. He established Abhivyakti State Resource Centre, a training and material development facility for literacy and education, with writers, intellectuals, and science activists. He was a member of the national executive committees of All India People’s Science Network and Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti. He also coordinated various state and national level campaigns and events related to science and literacy. He served as the director and later the chairman of SRC, providing mentorship and guidance to the institution."
